Description
The Bortolusso winery is located in the Carlino district of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. mannered, fragrant, medium tannins and balanced body wine with aromas of black currant, cherry, pepper, watercolor, chocolate.
Schioppettino has been known since 1282. and very fashionable until the 1800s. In 1860 it was destroyed by the phylloxera epidemic. Salvation came in the early 1970s when winemaker Paolo Rapuzzi founded the Ronchi di Cialla winery and began looking for local Friuli grape varieties for his vineyard.
The best place for Schioppettino grapes is Schioppettino di Prepotto DOCG. In its genetic characteristics Schioppettino is very similar to the varieties of Merlot, Zinfandel, Carmenere grapes.
